Choosing beige tiles
Warm beige or cool beige. Every beige sits on one side of the line. The undertone test is the fastest way to tell — hold the tile against a sheet of white printer paper in daylight. A warm beige reads cream-yellow, almost buttery. A cool beige reads grey-pink, closer to stone. North-facing rooms handle either, but south-facing rooms need warm beige or they go flat and grey.
Why beige dominates Australian homes in 2026. Beige works with every joinery colour — oak, walnut, blackbutt, painted shaker, polyurethane white. It ages without dating, doesn't fight art on the walls, and photographs the same warmth as it reads in person. Greys peaked five years ago; beige replaced them and hasn't moved.
Pairing beige with timber and brass. Beige and unlacquered brass is the most-specified combination of the year. Add timber joinery and a stone benchtop and the room is finished without further effort.
Ordering & planning
Beige versus greige. Greige carries a stronger grey undertone — cooler, more contemporary, and the right call for Scandi-inspired and inner-city palettes. Beige is warmer, with cream or sand at its base, and suits coastal, Hamptons and Mediterranean briefs. The two don't mix well in the same room — pick a side.
Grout colour for beige tiles. Always tone-matched. Beige grout with beige tile, full stop. White grout against a beige tile reads as a mistake within months as it yellows unevenly. Contrast grout fights the warmth of the tile and pulls the eye to the lines instead of the surface.
Ordering advice. Order ten per cent over your measured area to cover cuts, breakages and future repairs. Beige porcelain ranges run for years but specific batches do not — keep a full box on hand. Talk to a tile expert →
Beige tile questions
Are beige tiles still on trend in 2026?
Beige is the dominant residential neutral in Australia — not a trend, but the new default. It works with every joinery colour and ages without dating.
What undertone suits north-facing rooms?
Either works in north-facing rooms. South-facing rooms need warm beige (cream/sand undertone) or the tile reads grey and flat.
Do beige tiles show dirt?
Mid-tone beige is the most forgiving floor colour we sell — hides dust, sand and pet hair better than white or dark grey.
What grout colour with beige tiles?
Tone-matched beige grout, always. White grout yellows unevenly; contrast grout pulls the eye to the grid.
Beige vs greige?
Greige has a grey undertone (cooler, Scandi). Beige has cream or sand undertones (warmer, coastal, Mediterranean). Don't mix in the same room.
